MEASURE AND
OPTIMIZE
To use Google Analytics with websites one adds a <code> to every page on the website. Each page has to have the <code>. Images are from a report from May 1 to May 31, 2020 on the demonstration Google merchandise website.
One user = one identifier code or cookie.
Sessions are a group of interactions within a given time frame (e.g., 30 minutes). In one session one person can view one page than another, do a transaction, or an event.

Date range can be cusotmized.
Bounce rate is the percentage of single page visits. A person visits one page and leaves.
Page views are an instance of a page being loaded or reloaded in a browser. Repeat view are counted.

It is helpful for a website owner to know what acquisition channel works.

Organic search = not a paid add and includes Google and other search engines Yahoo! or Bing.

Direct = typed the url of your site or used a bookmark
​
Referral = clicked on a link in another link in another site
​
Display = paid advertisement website owner creates it can be a banner or a text ad.

Paid Search = see what keywords worked
​
Social = Facebook or Tweets
